Admission Classifications

Three Classification Types
  • Regular Admission
Regularly admitted applicants are those who have met state-standard program
admission requirements (See Requirements for details).

  • Provisional Admission
Provisionally admitted applicants are those who have not met the
requirements for regular admission. Provisional admission is based upon an
evaluation of test scores and other admissions file data by admissions
officers and program faculty and upon proper completion of application,
assessment, and placement procedures. Provisionally admitted applicants will
satisfy developmental studies requirements and/or take pre-tech courses and
may take certain occupational courses as designated by program standards.

  • Developmental Studies Admission Requirements
Developmental studies admission is granted to students who do not meet the
regular or provisional admission requirements. Each institution may establish its
own placement test floors for this category and refer applicants who score
below this floor to adult literacy classes.

Students classified in this category are eligible to enroll in developmental studies
classes or program level courses for which they have met the prerequisites.

Admission of developmental studies transfer students in contingent upon
their meeting applicable licensure and accreditation requirements.

  • Special Admission
An admission classification reserved for non-certificate/diploma seeking
applicants who desire credit for course work they successfully complete.
Students in this classification may bypass program admission requirement
    but must:

      1. be classified at time of entry as non-certificate/diploma seeking.
      2. be granted special admit status upon recommendation of the
        Director of Student Services.
